What requirements must a person have to be considered a “student”?

For purposes of tuition and education expense deductions, a “student” is a person who is enrolled in one or more courses at a qualified institution of higher education (i.e. post high school). This person must have a high school diploma or GED and be enrolled in one or more higher education courses.
